Orientation and Mobility Specialist

TX-STAR has been serving school districts since 2005 and has serviced over 40 school districts and a multitude of other agencies. Our staff are highly trained and have experience in educational environments, and more specifically the roles involved in special education. This experience working with all disciplines of Special Education provides unique insight into working with districts and making correct matches between contract service providers and the District.

About the role:

Orientation and Mobility Specialists teach individuals with visual impairments to travel safely, confidently, and independently in their environment.

What you have:

Current certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist from the Academy for Certifications of Vision Rehabilitation and Educational Professionals (ACVREP).

Bonus skills:

Provide direct O & M instruction and assessments with students and complete written reports.

Develop, implement, and monitor goals for students’ IEPs.

Participate in ARD meetings as well as teacher/parent conferences.

Provide in-service training and work collaboratively with teachers, service providers, and other staff regarding O & M as needed.

Assists with performing and properly completing daily pre-trip inspections, complete forms, records, and reports

Current certified teacher for the visually impaired. (Preferred)

Various schools throughout Texas.
